About the role

Plan, direct, or coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee manufacturing operations for machinists, detail operators, deburr personnel, tooling technicians, and supervisors.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel grievances.
  • Manage budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Identify sources of product and process variation through root cause analysis and lead measurable improvement efforts using Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Support leadership of company Quality Policy and Objectives by working closely with Quality Manager to ensure commitment to quality.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Manager and Quality departments to ensure all customer expectations are fully met.
  • Provide support and resources to Engineering department to facilitate effective transfer of technologies from development to production.
  • Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to train and mentor supervisors and managers to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Improve cost performance of operations areas and ensure proper scanning and mechanisms are used for responsible cost reporting and accountability.
  • Ensure safety regulations and policy procedures are followed and enforced by personnel.
  • Review plans and confer with research or support staff to develop new products or processes.
  • Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including machine replacement.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are fairly and consistently administered throughout all operational areas.
  • Encourage employee suggestion or involvement programs.
  • Provide incidental duties as required, including hands-on shop duties.
  • Supervise direct reports and shop floor employees to ensure a safe working environment in line with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance department on equipment/repair priorities.
  • Manage and oversee recycle processes and equipment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and leadership roles.
  • Cellular manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration preferred, or Six Sigma, APICS certification.
  • Proficient computer skills with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
