Astrophysics: High-Energy Gamma-Ray Astronomy with the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope
About the role
The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, launched in 2008, uses the Large Area Telescope (LAT) to observe gamma rays ranging from 20 MeV to above 300 GeV. Located at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, this position involves working on various aspects of the LAT collaboration and home to the mission operations and science support centers.
Description
The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope conducts an all-sky survey and explores phenomena such as active galaxies, the optical-UV extragalactic background light, pulsars and their nebulae, gamma-ray bursts, and supernova remnants. It also searches for new astrophysical and particle phenomena.
