ASSTISTANT NURSE MANAGER - 17th Street

About the role

The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered nurse with accountability for clinical care of a designated patient care service area. Responsible for assessing, identifying, planning, implementing, and evaluating the processes, technology, personnel, and facility needs required to achieve patient outcomes safely in a patient-centered environment. The Assistant Nurse Manager will also assume the role of Nurse Manager in her absence and assist the Nurse Manager in providing leadership and supervision to the nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Implement patient care activities in conjunction with the Nurse Manager and members of the healthcare team
• Assist in the evaluation of quality and effectiveness of nursing care administered to patients, and make recommendations for improvement to the Nurse Manager
• Monitor selection and use of unit supplies, technology, and equipment
• Assure that all unit staff are informed of medical center developments and participate with patient care area planning and problem solving
• Conduct/facilitate leadership and care team meetings, demonstrating ability to achieve meeting outcomes
• Maintain records of minutes
• Coordinate ER referrals
• Record, report, and interpret client responses and collaborate with appropriate members of the health team in the Family Practice
• Read and implement current nursing policies and standards written in nursing literature
• Participate in the department’s performance improvement activities
• Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Nurse Manager, including hiring, termination, and evaluation of employees

Qualifications

• BS in Nursing or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a clinical setting (ambulatory care setting a plus)
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
• Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State
• Current BCLS
• Current Infection Control Certificate
• Current Child Abuse Certificate
