Support the service center manager in leading employees across all service center functions, ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and proper handling of shipments and administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships through clear communication.
- Ensure daily pre-shift meetings occur with all employees.
- Assist the service center manager in aligning the center’s culture and operating plan with FedEx Freight’s vision and mission to promote organizational change.
- Lead employees in knowledge and skill development; monitor education activity and mentor involvement.
- Set clear expectations, hold employees accountable for goals, and apply corrective action when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe working condition for the facility and equipment.
- Establish and support a center safety committee and their activities.
- Ensure all security measures protect employees, freight, equipment, and the facility.
- Routinely communicate with sales to align operations and meet customer needs.
- Review shipment volume, dock layout, routes, staffing, equipment utilization, and processes to optimize efficiency.
- Work with the service center manager to maintain service center processes and ensure shipments stay within the designated operating cycle.
- Lead employees in proper freight handling, including claims prevention, hazardous materials, and OS&D requirements.
- Review and monitor production and efficiency measurements.
- Involve employees in identifying improvement opportunities.
- Manage physical assets, supplies, and vendors; collaborate with fleet maintenance if applicable.
- Review invoices, cost reports, and financial statements to measure performance against budget and reduce costs.
- Work with general office and regional support to ensure consistency and compliance in task requirements.
- Communicate routinely with the service center manager to align leadership direction.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience in the transportation industry in an operations leadership or related role.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong communication skills (written, oral, and visual).
- Thorough knowledge of the LTL industry, DOT rules and regulations, OSHA laws, hazardous materials regulations, NMFC, and tariff rules preferred.
- Able to work in a remote location with self-initiative and minimal supervision.
- Multi-tasking and strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet usage.
Pay
Annual Salary: $80,050.00 - $126,479.00
