About the role
TCS Interactive is a design studio inside one of the largest engineering companies in the world, working on software that runs enormous institutions in banking, healthcare, retail, and transportation. The studio is new, and its look and direction will be shaped by a small group of people over the next few years. You would join as an associate visual designer, reporting to the Design Director, sitting with a senior visual designer on real client work, and receiving regular critique from the studio’s creative leadership team — whose backgrounds include R/GA, AKQA, Razorfish, BBH, and Monks, with award‑winning work across Cannes, D&AD, the One Show, the Clios, the Effies, the Webbys, and the Emmys.
Responsibilities
- Create screens, components, layouts, iconography, motion studies, and pitch boards.
- Work on typography and color within a design system, contributing pieces that become part of it.
- Deliver work that goes into shipped products and into new‑business pitch materials.
- Engage in hands‑on design from the first month, with all output built and shipped at scale.
- Navigate legal, accessibility, and regulatory reviews, treating those constraints as part of the design challenge.
- Receive mentorship: report to the Design Director, collaborate with a senior visual designer, and have your work reviewed regularly by the studio’s creative leadership.
Requirements / Qualifications
- One to two years of professional experience, or straight out of school if your work already demonstrates the required skill.
- Based in New York.
- Strong eye for typography, spacing, color, and the small decisions that affect visual quality.
- Portfolio with a clear point of view — school projects, personal work, internships, etc., judged on quality rather than origin.
- Ability to articulate why a design works (“This pairing works because…”) and to refine your argument through critique.
- References that extend beyond typical design feeds — books, architecture, record sleeves, film, street signage, international influences.
- Thinking in flows and systems, not just isolated screens.
- Experience experimenting with generative AI tools for exploration, mood, and variation.
- Bachelor of Computer Science (or equivalent).
Benefits
- Discretionary Annual Incentive.
- Comprehensive Medical Coverage: Medical & Health, Dental & Vision, Disability Planning & Insurance, Pet Insurance Plans.
- Family Support: Maternal & Parental Leaves.
- Insurance Options: Auto & Home Insurance, Identity Theft Protection.
- Convenience & Professional Growth: Commuter Benefits & Certification & Training Reimbursement.
- Time Off: Vacation, Time Off, Sick Leave & Holidays.
- Legal & Financial Assistance: Legal Assistance, 401K Plan, Performance Bonus, College Fund, Student Loan Refinancing.
Pay
Salary Range: $79,400 - $107,500 a year
