About the role
We are seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join our team at VCA Kirkwood Animal Hospital. Founded over 60 years ago, we are a leading veterinary facility in the area, known for our state-of-the-art equipment, AAHA accreditation, and welcoming community.
Responsibilities
- Treat a variety of pets including cats, dogs, pot-bellied pigs, and rabbits
- Perform surgeries using a surgical laser
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry, full in-house lab analysis, and dental X-rays
- Provide compassionate care and maintain high standards of veterinary medicine
- Mentor and train new veterinarians and veterinary technicians
- Collaborate with a supportive team to ensure the best possible care for our patients
Requirements
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university or equivalent
- Licensure in good standing to practice in DE, or the ability to obtain
- A commitment to providing high-quality veterinary care and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
Qualifications
- Experience in veterinary medicine is preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for veterinary medicine and a desire to make a positive impact on pets and their owners
Skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally

Pay
Salary is negotiable based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and other relevant credentials. This position is also eligible for a signing bonus.

Full-time schedule available. Part-time options are considered.
