Associate Veterinarian

About the role

We're looking for a Veterinarian to join our team at Petco Total Care. As a Veterinarian, you'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to improving the lives of pets and pet owners. You'll be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, performing surgeries, and managing day hospital cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care.
• Utilize a problem-based approach to develop a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plan, and appropriate treatments based on diagnostic test results.
• Document all patient observations, findings, treatments, medications, client interactions, and diagnoses in the medical record.
• Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, mass removals, and dental procedures.
• Develop and implement treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization.
• Communicate effectively with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of patient care.
• Participate in rounds and disseminate knowledge to improve the level of care and communication among staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state in which the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
• Current DEA license.
• Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in state in which the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
• USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
• Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries including but not limited to: canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Caregiving and compassionate, maintaining a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.

At Petco Total Care, we offer competitive compensation, including a salary range of $87,700.00 - $186,100.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We also provide:

The salary range for this position is $87,700.00 - $186,100.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. The actual pay rate will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, with rotating shifts and potential weekend coverage. Specific details will be discussed during the interview process.
