About the role

We're looking for a Veterinarian to join our team at Petco Total Care. As a Veterinarian, you'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to improving the lives of pets and pet owners. You'll be responsible for providing comprehensive care, performing surgeries, and managing patient transitions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care.
  • Utilize a problem-based approach to develop a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plan, and appropriate treatments.
  • Document all patient observations, findings, treatments, and diagnoses in the medical record.
  • Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, mass removals, and dental procedures.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for hospitalized patients and communicate with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in rounds and disseminate knowledge to improve the level of care and communication among staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
  • Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state in which the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
  • Current DEA license.
  • Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in state in which the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
  • USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
  • Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries including but not limited to: canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Caregiving and compassionate attitude.
  • Telephone and computer skills.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.

  • Must be comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries including but not limited to: canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals.

Benefits

At Petco Total Care, we offer competitive compensation, including a salary range of $87,700.00 - $186,100.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We also provide:

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $87,700.00 - $186,100.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. The actual salary will vary based on regulatory minimum wage requirements and other factors.

This position requires a flexible schedule to accommodate the demands of veterinary practice, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
