Associate Trauma Medical Director

About the Role

HCA Florida Memorial Hospital is seeking an Associate Trauma Medical Director to lead a dynamic trauma and acute care surgery team alongside the Trauma Medical Director in Jacksonville.

The acute care surgery team includes seven full-time advanced practice professionals and six full-time trauma surgeons. The program participates in TQIP and TQIP collaboratives and is supported by a multispecialty team of Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, and Interventional Radiology.

Facility details:

• 26 operating rooms and 36 ICU beds (combined TICU/MICU)
• 56-bed emergency department with 2 dedicated trauma bays and 4 additional critical care bays
• 1,840 annual trauma patients entered in the registry
• Florida State verified Level II Trauma Center
• High volume of blunt/penetrating trauma (87% / 13%)
• Pediatric trauma (under 16 years old) and all burn cases stabilized and transferred to pediatric center

General surgery residents rotate on the service, and the team operates on a 12-hour primary in-house coverage model with 12-hour back-up.

Responsibilities

• Lead a trauma and acute care surgery team alongside the Trauma Medical Director
• Provide 12-hour primary in-house coverage with 12-hour back-up
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives, including TQIP and TQIP collaboratives
• Demonstrate leadership and teamwork within a multidisciplinary care environment

Requirements

• Board certified in General Surgery with Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care
• Current or ability to obtain an unrestricted Florida medical license (not subject to restrictions, probation, or conditions)
• No history of license revocation, restriction, or suspension by any professional licensing agency
• Current, unrestricted DEA registration
• Previous Trauma Surgery experience
• Commitment to impactful performance improvement
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills
