ASSOCIATE TRANSPORTATION PLANNER

About the role

As an Associate Transportation Planner, you will work independently under the direction of a Senior Transportation Planner, focusing on Climate Adaptation, Sustainability, and Complete Street activities. This position leads the development and review of project reports and planning studies in coordination with internal and external partners. Responsibilities include data gathering, research, and analysis of transportation system performance related to accessibility, equity, air quality, environment, and reliability. You may also provide technical assistance in core planning areas such as competitive grant applications, system planning, and regional planning. The role supports the Department's and District's strategic goals and vision.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and review of project reports and planning studies in coordination with internal and external partners.
• Conduct data gathering, research, and analysis of transportation system performance, including accessibility, equity, air quality, environment, and reliability.
• Provide technical assistance in core planning areas such as competitive grant applications, system planning, and regional planning.
• Support the Department's and District's strategic goals and vision.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
• Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Associate Transportation Planner/Transportation Planner exam.
• For those new to state civil service employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for this position.
• Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
• If basing eligibility on education, unofficial transcript(s)/diploma must be provided for verification. Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a U.S. equivalency report evaluation.

Pay

• Associate Transportation Planner: $7,328.00 - $9,178.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
• Transportation Planner (Shall Consider): $4,928.00 - $7,633.00 per month.
