Responsibilities
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings to be used in the manufacturing of new tooling in support of various programs.
- Create effective and safe designs that are used to manufacture, test, qualify, and transport product.
- Schedule and run 30/60/90% Design Reviews to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the design cycle.
- Work with internal customers to conceptualize and design support equipment for new and existing programs.
- Work closely with other Tool Engineering functions to provide designs on time and within budget.
- Understand and monitor budget and schedule for own tasks.
- Review Engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to starting.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access prior to starting.
- Experience with solid modeling (NX preferred).
- Experience with manufacturing processes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with 2D drawing preparation.
- Experience with GD&T practice and implementation.
Qualifications
Associate Tooling Design Engineer Level 1
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 0 years of experience in Mechanical, Design, Tooling, Manufacturing, Die, Product, or similar engineering fields.
Tooling Design Engineer Level 2
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 1 year of experience in Mechanical, Design, Tooling, Manufacturing, Die, Product, or similar engineering fields, or Master’s degree in STEM with 0 years of experience in the mentioned fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledgeable and demonstrated experience with NX modeling.
- Structural Analysis experience (FEA and hand calculations).
- Mechanical Design and Assembly experience.
- Experience managing small to medium size design projects.
Pay
- Associate Tooling Design Engineer Level 1: $59,900.00 – $89,900.00
- Tooling Design Engineer Level 2: $72,100.00 – $108,100.00
The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
