About the role

The Associate Technical Writer documents product features and maintains end-user materials—user guides, manuals, technical specifications, and knowledge articles—following company styles and standards. This fully remote, U.S.-based position requires occasional travel (up to 10%).

Responsibilities

  • Execute procedures of moderate complexity with minimal guidance.
  • Author user guides, manuals, technical specifications, and knowledge articles to help customers navigate feature changes and upgrades.
  • Adhere to company processes, styles, and standards to translate technical and functional information into user-friendly materials.
  • Interview and coordinate with subject-matter experts to ensure accuracy of all end-user content.
  • Assist with product-acceptance testing.
  • Support activities within the Technical Writing and Knowledge Management groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or Psychology.
  • 0–2 years of professional experience in technical writing or software documentation (internships, equivalent training, or a technical-writing certificate accepted).
  • Experience with MS Office, Google Apps, and graphic-imaging software.
  • Familiarity with both print and digital media formats.
  • Knowledge of the software-development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Strong active-listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Basic research, data-gathering, and analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret written requirements and technical-specification documents.
  • Detail-oriented, innovative, and creative thinking.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with authoring tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, Oxygen XML Editor, MadCap, Microsoft Word, or Markdown.
  • Knowledge of Digital Adoption Platforms (WalkMe) and Help Authoring Tools (RoboHelp).

Pay

$50,000 – $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
