Associate Technical Designer

About the role
DÔEN is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Technical Designer to join our growing team in Los Angeles. This onsite position reports to the Senior Technical Designer and supports the execution of the design aesthetic from development through production, focusing on fit execution for specified categories.
Location: HQ: 14801 Califa St, Van Nuys, CA 91411
Schedule: Onsite, 4 days in office, 1 day remote
Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM
Pay: $30/hour
Responsibilities
- Support fit execution on assigned styles throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with DÔEN’s standards for fit, construction, quality, and consistency.
- Attend fittings with cross-functional partners to ensure the design aesthetic is realized and DÔEN fit standards are met.
- Take clear and concise notes during fittings for assigned categories to accurately document fit decisions and updates.
- Proactively work with the Senior Technical Designer to address fit and construction issues without compromising fit functionality or factory productivity.
- Identify potential production, quality, and costing issues and make actionable recommendations to protect brand integrity.
- Build initial tech packs and issue precise fit comments in alignment with DÔEN’s construction, quality, grade, and tolerance standards.
- Maintain strong organization and prioritize tasks to meet key calendar deadlines across development and production stages.
- Oversee management of Sample WIP and weekly fit log, working closely with production to ensure fit priorities are set weekly and fit approval deadlines are maintained.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design, Patternmaking, or a related field, or equivalent work experience and education.
- At least 2–4 years of experience in Apparel Technical Design.
- Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, production sewing techniques, fabrication, and trims.
- Experience working with overseas, full-package vendors.
- Highly organized with the ability to track and maintain sample records and collaborate with cross-functional partners to meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Word, and Excel; 2D and 3D pattern experience preferred but not required.
