Key Responsibilities

Support the senior tech editor in setting the strategic editorial policy for our tech beat
Help edit tech stories, pitch tech news, and support getting products to review
Support the senior tech editor in ensuring content across all platforms meets the highest standards of editorial excellence and positions the site as authoritative and agenda-setting
Help maintain the site’s editorial voice, anchored in conversational style and skepticism of conventional wisdom
Help guide daily production of the team’s output across distribution channels
Track and meet targets for growing our reach, loyalty, and engagement

Job Qualifications

At least 3 years of experience writing about consumer tech, AI, home automation, VPNs, and/or online privacy and security across Windows, macOS, iPhone, Android, and third-party apps
Capable of turning around stories ranging from news stories to longer features at a quick pace
Comfortable asserting your opinion and substantiating why your advice is sound
Comfortable working across teams to meet business goals
Comfortable working across mediums, including video and podcasts
Able to leverage audience listening and analytics to create informed content pitches, plans, and strategy
Obsessed with tech and helping others, and able to explain complicated processes in an understandable and approachable voice
Have shrewd judgment and a healthy skepticism of common advice

Compensation Range

This is a union position covered by the NewsGuild of New York (LINK: https://nyguild.org). The contractual minimum salary for this position is $65,000.
