About the role

The Associate Teacher Program is a year-long teacher preparation program designed to support early educators in developing the skills necessary to become experienced educators in one year. Brooke Charter Schools strives to be an anti-racist organization; we fulfill our school's mission by diversifying the educator workforce through the Associate Teacher Program.

Responsibilities

  • One-to-one Mentoring: Associates are paired with a mentor who provides targeted feedback to support growth in teaching practices through regular observations, coaching conversations, and formal monthly evaluations.
  • Professional Development: Associates participate in over 300 hours of weekly intensive professional development, including anti-racist classroom management practices, developing standards-based lesson plans, and centering student voice.
  • Gradual Release Teaching Model: Associates practice skills from targeted professional development and take on more teaching components, teaching full days in their mentor's classroom and gaining opportunities to teach across different grade levels and campuses.
  • Assume Duties: Associate teachers will assume the responsibilities of absent classroom teachers, teaching across different grade levels and classrooms.
