Associate Teacher
About the role
We are seeking a founding teacher for our new charter school, Strive Charter School, opening in Fall 2026 in the South Bronx. Our school is built around a simple but radical belief: when children are given abundant time, meaningful choice, joyful relationships, and a rich environment for reading and play, they soar.

Strive Charter School is an extended-time elementary school with a progressive, child-centered approach to teaching and learning. Responsibilities
Your working day will be eight hours, with at least 2½ hours during the day for lunch, professional development, and individual and team planning. Instruction begins at 9 a.m., and you’ll have help from teaching assistants who will supervise lunch and recess and support you in the classroom.
Requirements
- No teaching experience is required for this position.
- BA Degree required.
- If you have two or more years of experience teaching in an elementary or middle school, you should apply for our lead teacher position rather than this position.

We are looking for someone who sees children as curious, joyful learners who thrive when given room to read, play, question, build, and belong. Our philosophy is pragmatically progressive, with a mix of traditional instruction and self-directed activities.

Pay
Salary: $70,000 annually.
