Associate Tax Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Perform sales tax account reconciliations and support month-end close process.
• Work closely with the accounting team to maintain sales tax–related accounts on an ongoing basis.
• Prepare and file amended sales tax returns as needed.
• Assist with inventory reconciliations and support inventory valuation analysis in coordination with the GL team.
• Support property tax compliance and analysis initiatives, including data gathering and coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
• Affirm monthly sales and use tax workpapers and filing sales and use tax returns in all applicable jurisdictions, including new tax registrations and online account setup.
• Support multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including research of taxability and nexus considerations.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate billing and application of sales and use tax.
• Gather, organize, and analyze financial data to support audits and regulatory reporting.
• Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines and working independently.
• Afford assistance with ad-hoc tax related projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Math or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• ERP experience required; SAP experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working with Avalara or a similar tax engine preferred.
• Exposure to multi-state sales and use tax compliance preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Mandarin language skills are preferred but not required.

Work Location and Status

Full-time contractor, based in Irvine, CA. Hybrid work environment (minimum of three days per week in office).
