Responsibilities
- Accurate preparation and timely filing of assigned tax returns:
- Forms 990, 990-T and related state charitable and income tax returns
- Federal, state, and local income tax returns
- Indirect tax returns (SUT, VAT, GST, JCT, etc.)
- International tax returns/reporting (Forms 8858, 5713, 5471, etc.)
- Forms 1099 and 1042 tax filings and other required statutory reporting
- Assist with tax planning, including maintaining and updating Tax Policies & Procedures
- Conduct tax research and improve efficiency and controls
- Complete basic reconciliations
- Review and resolve issues with the enterprise transaction tax system or government taxing jurisdiction platforms; coordinate duties for the tax engine
- Assist with indirect tax coordination for IEEE’s global conference business
- Respond accurately and timely to inquiries from internal and external customers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in accounting or tax
- 0-2 years tax and/or accounting experience
Qualifications
- CPA, or JD with tax/finance tax background (preferred)
- Basic experience with tax preparation and tax research
- Non-profit, international, and indirect (sales and use or VAT) tax experience (a plus)
- Effective interpersonal skills to create tax compliance plans addressing IEEE’s needs and constraints
- Ability to analyze compliance requirements, identify problems, and recommend solutions with moderate supervision
- Highest degree of professionalism in handling sensitive and/or confidential matters
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High level of initiative and motivation
- Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment
- Technologically savvy; proficient in Google and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with tax software (direct and indirect tax applications) (a plus)
- Familiarity with emerging technologies, including automation and AI, in tax process design and transformation
- Ability to build relationships and interact constructively with the team, internal departments, and volunteers
- Ability to work with moderate supervision

- Individuals currently serving on an IEEE board or committee are not eligible to apply
- This position is not budgeted for employer-sponsored immigration support, including all persons in F (CPT/OPT), J, H, L, or O status
Pay
$60,350 minimum
