Associate Structural Analysis Engineer - Systems and Interiors Stress
About the role
Boeing Commercial Airplanes is hiring Associate Structural Analysis Engineers for our Systems Stress and Interiors Stress teams at our North Charleston, SC location. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, innovative environment within the Commercial Airplanes South Carolina Design Center.
Responsibilities
- Perform stress analysis on Boeing 787 Aircraft Systems or Interiors products using classical hand analysis methods, Finite Element tools/methods, and/or Dynamic Simulation tools/methods.
- Review supplier documents in support of supplier technical oversight, including engineering drawings, analysis, test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Develop, integrate, and document structural requirements to establish Systems or Interior Commodity designs.
- Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment, such as load cases, interface architecture, and interface loads.
- Guide product design and verify structural integrity throughout the product lifecycle to develop structural environment, characteristics, and performance.
- Develop test plans and configurations, support test execution, and analyze/report test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
- Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
- Develop certification-related documentation to support CFR Part 25 Type Cert projects.
- Collaborate and perform oversight on projects with domestic and international partners/suppliers.
- Actively support the growth and development of a new engineering organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences).
- At least 2 years of experience working in relevant fields of the engineering industry.
- At least 1 year of experience performing structural analysis.
- Experience performing structural analysis using classical hand calculation methods.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with basic coding/script writing with FEA tools.
- Experience working on projects with composite material systems.
- Prior experience with manufacturing/production.
- Prior experience with Boeing Systems Stress or Interiors Stress.

Pay
Summary pay range for Associate (Level 2): $85,000 – $115,000. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Schedule
This position is for 1st shift.
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Boeing will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status. This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements; a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 is required.
