Associate Software Engineer

Position Summary

This position is responsible for developing, testing, and deploying innovative technology and data products within the ITG Accelerated Technologies organization and DT&I. They will help us build platforms and services that enable our physicians and clinicians to provide world-class care for patients in our hospitals.

Major Responsibilities

• Work closely with our design, data science, product, and innovation teams to provide the fundamental infrastructure for their success, creating life-changing technology in HCA Healthcare’s network of care.
• Develop microservices, deploy applications using cloud infrastructure, and scale solutions across hundreds of hospitals.
• Create maintainable, high quality, well-tested code, both individually and collaboratively.
• Escalate product issues and risks appropriately and collaborate on solutions.
• Provide after-hours/on-call support as needed.
• Follow software development standards and frameworks.
• Lead troubleshooting activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
• Technology Experience: Entry level experience in some of the following. If you don’t have experience in some of these, you are able to work collaboratively on a cross-functional team that builds Data Science signal delivery, data pipeline, and DevOps infrastructure.
• Experience with cloud development technologies, (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
• Proficiency in multiple primary programming languages (some functional preferred).
• Proficiency with streaming and event driven architectures.
• Understanding of best practices in the design and implementation of REST-based APIs.
• Experience in data acquisition, data cleansing and parsing.
• Experience with container-based platforms (Kubernetes, Cloud run ,OpenShift, etc.).
• Experience with monitoring and instrumentation practices.
• SQL experience (BigQuery, Postgres).
• Distributed database experience.
• Scrum/Agile experience.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Healthcare Experience: Experience with healthcare data and technology is preferred.

Application Development Skills

• Required: Application development skills using ReactJS, TypeScript, Python, Fast API and Postgres.
• PREFERRED: GCP experience.
• PREFERRED: Experience with AI assisted tooling such as GitHub Copilot, Lovable.dev, v0.dev, https://bolt.new/, or other Vibe Coding tools.
