Associate Security Innovation Engineer
About the role
Under supervision, supports the design, development, and delivery of innovative security solutions leveraging AI, automation, and emerging technologies to strengthen WM's enterprise security posture. Contributes to the continuous improvement of security tool coverage, engineering of new capabilities, and adoption of modern technology across the organization. Assists security operations by streamlining investigative workflows and accelerating incident response through creative tooling and process optimization. Supports project and initiative tracking to ensure alignment with strategic security objectives.
Responsibilities
- Explores and applies AI, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance the efficiency, coverage, and effectiveness of WM's security solutions and operational capabilities.
- Contributes to the design and engineering of new security solutions, bringing a creative and forward-thinking approach to solving complex technical challenges.
- Supports security operations by developing and refining tools, dashboards, and automated workflows that accelerate investigations and reduce mean time to resolution.
- Assists in project and initiative tracking, helping to organize deliverables, monitor progress, and communicate status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
- Analyzes and improves security tool coverage across endpoint, network, and cloud environments by identifying gaps and recommending enhancements or new integrations.
- Supports log collection, analysis, and engineering efforts across firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise platforms, and operating systems to improve visibility and detection capabilities.
- Evaluates and recommends adoption of new technologies, including hardware, software, and SaaS solutions, escalating more complex assessments to senior team members as appropriate.
- Communicates technical findings and innovation concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, contributing to security policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Participates in proof-of-concept development and prototyping of new security tools and integrations, within a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar area of study. 4 years of related experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to or interest in AI/ML concepts, scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell), low code/no code development (Tines, Okta Workflows, Power Apps) or security orchestration platforms
- Familiarity with SIEM, SOAR, or log management tools
- A demonstrated curiosity for emerging technology and creative problem-solving
