About the role
The Associate Scientist, Microbiology position at ProBio, a subsidiary of GenScript, is ideal for professionals with extensive technical knowledge and a proven track record in developing and executing processes suitable for GMP manufacturing of clinical trial materials. This role involves leading and evolving the microbiology function within a CDMO business, supporting a broad portfolio, and advancing manufacturing capabilities to deliver transformative products.
Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up, developing, and maintaining a GMP QC-Microbiology Lab.
- Participate in EMPQ, cleanroom validation, and associated activities/documents.
- Carry out cGMP-compliant functions such as Environmental Monitoring, Plate Reads, Water Testing, Gas Testing, Gram Staining, Growth Promotion, Bioburden, Gowning Qualifications, and other QC-Microbiology activities.
- Test compounded sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals.
- Support laboratory personnel in daily activities to ensure quality and compliance with SOPs, cGMP protocols, and safety standards.
- Conduct mycoplasma testing and various virology and microbial assays.
- Learn and demonstrate proficiency in new skills.
- Support optimization initiatives to enhance QC department performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree with 1 years of relevant work experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Experience in gene and cell therapy recombinant plasmid DNA products is a plus.
- Experience with Environmental monitoring, cleanroom activities, and Mycoplasma testing or other cell culture and viral assays.
- Experience with documentation, including authoring, reviewing, and approving GMP documents such as procedures, test methods, protocols, reports, etc.
- Ability to problem solve and work independently and as part of a team.
