Associate Scientist l (Part-Time)

About the role
Shift: Part-Time (Standard Business Hours are Monday – Friday, 8am–4:30pm. Weekends and Early Morning/Late Evenings Available).
The SST Associate Scientist I shall assist other SST Laboratory personnel in general lab duties and be responsible for ensuring quality and accurate data in a timely fashion. This role involves effective communication internally and externally, cooperative work, and proposing process improvements for technical areas.
Responsibilities
- Participate in general laboratory maintenance and ensure quality and accurate data in all processes.
- Follow work instructions and direct sample flow for efficiency.
- Perform sample analysis and document results.
- Participate in lab and equipment maintenance.
- Communicate inventory needs and sample/test issues to appropriate staff or managers.
- Identify and report opportunities to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and quality.
- Perform assigned tasks according to company procedures and work instructions cost-effectively.
- Perform evaluation tests according to work instructions and follow AOSA, Canada, or ISTA rules as requested.
- Drive processes and motivate individuals to complete work efficiently and consistently.
- Propose and communicate process improvements for planting and/or evaluation.
- Evaluate TZ Tests (both Post Germ and straight TZ Tests).
- Maintain appropriate inventory and organize supplies.
- Guide or assist newer staff with questions and direct them appropriately.
- Ensure accurate and efficient execution of work instructions and minimize mistakes.
- During October through March, may be requested to work at least 45 hours per week to assist the lab manager.
Requirements
- High School degree recommended with an aptitude for science.
- Certification by the Society of Commercial Seed Technologists is recommended.
- Within a commutable distance of the worksite location.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- May be required to sit or stand for 8 hours.
