Associate Scientist, Analytical Development

About the role

Join a passionate team dedicated to developing and manufacturing life-saving biopharmaceuticals at Avid Bioservices, a leading clinical and commercial biologics CDMO. This position focuses on developing cell-based, ELISA, HPLC, and/or CE methods while working alongside experienced analytical scientists and process development scientists to identify and characterize protein biologics. You will interface with Quality Control as methods are transferred for cGMP testing and collaborate with external clients. The role involves performing testing and sampling to support validation, process development, and stability studies in both non-GMP and GMP environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review routine wet chemistry, ELISA, cell-based immunoassays, electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE/CE), and/or HPLC.
• Use scientific reasoning to make decisions regarding data quality and report findings.
• Research and gather information independently, making scientifically sound decisions based on knowledge and experience.
• Train and supervise the experimental work of junior analysts and participate in interdepartmental/tech transfer teams.
• Develop, review, revise, and write test methods, standard operating procedures, and perform trending analysis.
• Serve as study lead for validation projects, investigations, and method development projects.
• Apply knowledge of company cGMPs and industry regulations relevant to job functions.
• Participate in regulatory inspections and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• BS degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of biotech industry experience in a QC or analytical lab.
• Experience with analytical testing, equipment, and biochemistry methods, including writing reports, procedures, specifications, GMPs, and regulatory audits.
• Proficiency in HPLC, CE, or Potency/ELISA methodologies.
• Experience with protein characterization, electrophoresis, chromatography, and assay validation/qualification.

Pay

The compensation range for this role is $84,000 - $105,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
