This position reports to the supervisor for the functional area to which they are assigned and has no direct reports. The Associate Scientist works closely with other departments, such as Operations, Validations, Product Development, Quality Systems, Product Release, and Chemistry to support the Microbiology department on various projects, studies, and routine tasks.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Gram Staining.
- Monitors and tracks laboratory results.
- Trains new department personnel on SOPs.
- Provides validation test support.
- Performs environmental monitoring and routine testing of in-process and finished products.
- Performs routine analysis related to the testing and release of Raw Material, In-Process Finished Product, and Stability.
- Assists with the execution of equipment and method validation.
- Reviews data generated by QC technicians and approves testing paperwork.
- Assists in compiling data for Annual Reports.
- Investigates and resolves nonconforming test results by completing thorough Environmental Excursion or Deviation investigations.
- Must be trained and qualified in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), e.g., respirators.
- Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Must be available to work overtime as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years’ experience in a similar discipline required.
- Experience with high-speed manufacturing machinery design and operation preferred.
- Working knowledge of project management and experience using MS Project preferred.
- Understanding of plant mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the ability to read construction and process drawings preferred.
- Must have excellent problem-solving and communications skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks preferred.
- Computerized and automation control system familiarity strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with FDA or other regulated industry preferred.
- Must have an engineering/technical background.

Pay
$23.45/hour + $2.00/hour shift differential. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience level, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Schedule
6 PM – 6:30 AM; 1 rotating weekday, Saturday–Sunday.
