Job Summary

The Young Life North Star Region is seeking a FULL-TIME Associate Regional Director to join our regional leadership team. The role will supervise 6-7 diverse areas and/or area start-ups in the Greater Twin Cities area, which includes active ministries of Young Life (high school), WyldLife (middle school), and Capernaum (kids with disabilities).

Key Components

  • Provide healthy supervision to these thriving areas / area start-ups.
  • Model servant leadership, be deeply committed to their faith, and passionate about growing mission leaders in order to reach all kids with the love of Jesus.
  • Fundraise for their role and regional initiatives.

Ministry Functions

  • Spiritual Development:
    • Prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships.
    • Personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life.
    • Relationships and disciplines in the context of active participation in a church community.
    • Participation in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
    • Leading teams and individuals in spiritual development.
    • Ensuring all Young Life ministry in the region is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer.
  • Leadership Development:
    • Volunteer care, recruiting, team building, and training.
    • Casting vision for reaching "every kid" within the region.
    • Developing diverse leadership and ministries.
    • Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and placing staff within the region.
    • Supervising, developing, and evaluating staff.
    • Facilitating departures when necessary and as assigned.
    • Developing and implementing regional trainings.
    • Conducting assignments or events as assigned by the regional director.
  • Resource Development:
    • Events, major donor care, public relations (branding), and TDS team.
    • Helping areas develop committees.
    • Communicating regularly with committee and TDS chairs within the region.
    • Developing and leading the region's fundraising strategy.
    • Raising necessary funds to carry out the regional ministry vision.
    • Implementing and supporting regional initiatives.
  • Direct Ministry:
    • Contact work, club, campaigners, and camp.
    • Developing new areas and identifying interested adults to help the ministry grow.
    • Visiting areas as needed or assigned, including routine and emergency crisis visits.
    • Evaluating local areas to ensure Young Life ministry is carried out with excellence.
    • Maintaining ministry contact with kids to the extent necessary to be effective in this role.
    • Providing networking opportunities to offer additional camping experiences using non-Young Life camps and discipleship experiences.
  • Ministry Support:
    • Accounting, administration, communication (internal), data management, and strategic plan.
    • Maintaining professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
    • Providing clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to everyone within the scope of ministry.
    • Developing an appropriate system for reporting, expense report responsibilities, and the use of regional funds using Young Life accounting applications.
    • Implementing and supporting regional initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • College degree preferred.
    • Completion of YL Core Training — Phase One.
    • Proven experience as a Young Life Area Director preferred.
    • Able to supervise at a distance.
    • Proven spiritual leader.
    • Proven leadership in developing diverse staff and ministries.
    • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Potential and capacity to function as a regional director.
