About the role

The Associate Quality Metrologist in Milwaukee, WI, will manage the routine maintenance program for analytical equipment. You will oversee the purchase and installation of new analytical equipment and the ownership of department service contracts for instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the lab's regular preventative maintenance and performance verification (PV/PM) programs; schedules analyst routine tasks, documents all activities in the department information management system, and ensures strict timeline compliance.
  • Diagnoses and repairs analytical instrumentation, coordinates external service groups, manages vendor service contracts, procures replacement parts, and advises team members on resolving calibration issues.
  • Manages the entire instrument lifecycle from onboarding to retirement, performs root-cause analysis on downtime, and assists with capital planning, CapEx purchase requests, and Management of Change (MOC) documentation for new technologies.
  • Ensures all system configurations and software user roles strictly comply with corporate Data Integrity policies and internal documentation standards for both internal and external maintenance services.
  • Maintains schedules and drives continuous improvement for the department's metrology training program, including coordinating webinars for key users to deepen system understanding.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Engineering disciplines OR Chemistry, Biochemistry or other Life Science disciplines3 + years of laboratory experience OR High School Diploma or GED4+ years of laboratory experience
  • Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of analytical equipment maintenance experienceDedication to maintaining a safe, friendly workplaceDemonstrates the ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail, strictly following written procedures and documenting deviations in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Project Management experienceUtilizes strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to extract key insights from data, while maintaining excellent communication and deadline management in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience with measurement and calibration toolsMathematical skills to apply to instrumental concepts, like uncertaintyProven ability to effectively train individuals on metrology concepts, regardless of their prior background or technical experience.
  • Familiarity with common analytical software platforms (Chromeleon, Tiamo, etc)

Qualifications

Pay

The Pay Range for this position is $27.00 - $46.00. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses.
