About the role

Vertiv’s Project Execution Services (PES) organization is hiring an Associate Project Manager to lead process, tool, training, and governance for critical infrastructure and data center projects nationally for our thermal, power, battery, and monitoring products. This role focuses on establishing relationships and processes from pre-sales through equipment commissioning to ensure a smooth, repeatable process is implemented and followed. Effective communication with all levels of multiple organizations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Project Management Office (PMO) to define and develop methods, procedures, and best practices, and ensure they are enforced on projects.
  • Create the project scope of work in conjunction with the technical and relationship sales team, defining Vertiv responsibilities and those of other stakeholders.
  • Utilize standard Project Management tools to conduct projects effectively, achieving quality, financial, and schedule targets.
  • Define and obtain the appropriate resources required to fulfill the project scope of work.
  • Work with functional group leaders to develop the project organizational resource chart and a RACI Matrix to clarify roles, responsibilities, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with order management, plant production, logistics, contractors, services, and warranty groups throughout the project, escalating potential conflicts to avoid customer impact and balance demand.
  • Work closely with the Site Manager (SM) to ensure understanding and communication of schedule, budget, and scope; visit sites periodically to establish relationships with key personnel.
  • Evaluate alternative delivery methods to ensure project success by leveraging expertise from other functional areas.
  • Establish and implement processes with a focus on hand-offs between functional areas.
  • Escalate and create urgency around issues that could impede project success, ensuring timely resolution and communication to stakeholders.
  • Monitor team schedules and coordinate activities on the critical path; implement short-term and long-term resolutions.
  • Follow reporting and tracking programs to ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and cost targets; establish project reporting and KPIs.
  • Document meeting notes, action items, and follow through to completion.
  • Be proactive in establishing a culture of safety for each project; host periodic safety meetings to prioritize safety.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of project management experience; critical infrastructure expertise with UPS, thermal, battery, and monitoring is a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction, electrical, and mechanical contracting.
  • Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing processes, data center infrastructure, and commissioning processes is helpful.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

25 to 30% travel required.
