Associate Project Manager – Power & Energy Northeast

Responsibilities
- Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Project Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
- Assist with managing the administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned power delivery project(s) in accordance with WSP’s core values and the level of project services agreed upon in the contract by WSP and the client(s).
- Ensure that responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout) are adhered to, delivered, and audited with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable corporate standards for execution, profitability, quality, safety, and operational purpose.
- Participate in the development of power delivery project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
- Update documentation within designated systems and processes, including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan as necessary.
- Facilitate project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
- Aid in monitoring and tracking project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin for a project or an assigned portfolio of projects.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control.
- Coordinate with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontractor requirements in a timely manner.
- Assist with overseeing subcontractors, and coordinating supplier submissions, invoices, and payments.
- Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders.
- Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers.
- Complete formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staff.
- Develop sufficient financial acumen to understand project financial data.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience within the power delivery/utility industry.
- Understanding of project delivery process within the power delivery industry and defined background and experience in project management.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
- Self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.
- Coordination of resources, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to complete tasks competently and efficiently.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Working towards project management certification (e.g., PMP).

Pay
Expected Salary (all locations): $100,000 - $130,000
