Associate Project Engineer
About the Role
The Carrier and Fleet Programs Unit is seeking an experienced project engineer to ensure the needs of major Fleet Power Plant programs are planned, budgeted, and executed effectively. The successful candidate will coordinate and support these needs by working with multiple stakeholders, including the power plant technical community, Financial Services, NNL Procurement Department, Naval Reactors, and shipyards. The role requires learning applicable Fleet Power Plant engineering work and integrating it with program/project funding needs, as well as gaining knowledge of Government contracting, funding guidelines, and cost estimating.
Responsibilities
- Support cost estimate and special schedule development for major Naval projects
- Provide programmatic oversight of work performed at the shipyard
- Manage budget and portfolio databases of shipyard work
- Support multi-organizational assessments of major project work
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science, or construction field; or a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science, or construction field.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with analyzing large datasets in Excel
- Experience with oversight of shipyard work
- Ability to learn applicable power plant engineering work
- Ability to learn project management of moderately sized engineering efforts
- Understanding of planning estimates

Pay
Pay Range: $57,500.00 - $88,000.00 annually. Salary is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
