Associate Professor/Professor and Chair of Biology Department

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for curriculum development and revision
• Oversee the coordination of personnel, schedules and resources to meet the needs of the undergraduate colleges
• Work collaboratively with the various graduate programs of the University
• Supervise and evaluate faculty
• Work with faculty to establish department goals
• Oversee the assessment of the department's programs
• Oversee faculty selection
• Ensure departmental representation at meetings and other events
• Chair departmental meetings and appoint departmental committees
• Advise and respond to student appeals and requests
• Recommend changes to maintain the relevance of the program
• Present a positive image of the college to the community
• Advises pre-health students and biology majors

Qualifications

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Terminal Degree in biology and/or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in higher education
• Record of academic research and professional expertise
• Administrative experience required
