Position: Associate Professor: Pharmaceutical Sciences Job type Full Time Category Academic Location / Branch University of Namibia / Hage Geingob Campus Closing Date 11 September 2026 (2 weeks from now) Job Description Foundation Modules: Deliver core lectures in Physical Chemistry for Pharmaceutical Sciences, Thermodynamics and Kinetics in Drug Formulation, and Introduction to Computational Methods in Pharmacy.Advanced Computational Chemistry Modules: Lead specialized courses in Molecular Modelling and Chemoinformatics , Quantum Chemistry (DFT/ab initio) applied to Drug- Target Interactions, and Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulations of Biological MacromoleculesDrug Design Modules: Instruct students in Structure-Based Drug Design (SBDD), Ligand- Based Pharmacophore Modelling, Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR), and ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity) prediction using in-silico tools.Independent Research Program: Build a vigorous research group focusing on computational strategies for modern drug discovery, such as virtual screening of compound libraries, free-energy perturbation (FEP), or cryo-EM/structural biology data integration.Grant Acquisition: Actively identify, prepare, and submit grant proposals to national and international funding agencies to secure sustainable research funding for personnel, equipment.High-Impact Publication: Publish original, peer-reviewed research articles in QI/Q2 journalsSupervision of Trainees: Directly supervise Ph.D. candidates, post-doctoral fellows, and &laster's students in their research projects, ensuring rigorous experimental design and ethical compliance.Remain current with emerging computational techniques, software packages (Schrödinger, OpenEye, GROMACS, AMBER, AutoDock), and programming libraries.Attend and present at major international conferences to maintain professionais networks.Any other lab related duty assigned by the Head of Department.
