About the role

This position is for an instructor in the Albany Nursing Program, with responsibilities spanning classroom, lab, and clinical instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide 15 to 20 instructional contact hours per week (classroom, lab, and clinical).
• Deliver instruction using evidence-based best practices to ensure students meet all course outcomes and objectives.
• Plan and facilitate instruction consistent with the Community of Inquiry Framework and the Seven Principles for Good Practice.
• Ensure appropriate course-level rigor in instruction and assessment methodologies aligned with the College’s Rigor Standards Framework through course planning documents (e.g., supplemental syllabi, lesson plans, assessments).
• Integrate and assess the College’s four lifelong learning competencies in each course taught.
• Maintain a classroom climate consistent with College values, education promise, and personalized promise.
• Model professional practice and standards in the classroom, lab, and clinical sites.
• Maintain one Skills Assistance contact hour per week for every four instructional hours assigned; publish a schedule each term and promote student attendance.
• Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of the teaching discipline through professional organizations, scholarly resources, and peer dialogue.
• Engage in program, campus, and system-wide faculty development opportunities, including meetings and in-services.
• Document professional development and earn at least 10 continuing education hours annually.
• Fulfill administrative duties, including term paperwork, retention/submission, and adherence to operational policies.
• Maintain Administrative hours as determined by the Program Director and Dean.
• Provide feedback on curriculum to the Program Director and participate in curriculum monitoring and development.
• Advise the Program Director on equipment and supplies needed for nursing classrooms and labs.
• Assist in preparation and maintenance of records for national program accreditation.
• Serve as a resource, advisor, and mentor for nursing students.
• Attend required College functions, including graduation and special activities.
• Support recruitment, retention, and graduation goals by monitoring and assessing classroom and program performance.
• Participate in department committee and advisory committee meetings.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• Valid New York State Nursing License in good standing.
• Valid American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Discipline-specific workplace experience a plus.
• Professionalism, integrity, self-motivation, and a strong desire to guide students in improving their career prospects.
• Ability to maintain a contemporary skill set in active learning and authentic assessment evaluation methodology.
• Exceptional organization and communication skills.

Pay

$75,000 - $80,000 per year. Compensation may vary based on factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs.
