Associate Professor in Cybersecurity
About the role
The position is based in Australia as an Associate Professor in Cybersecurity within the School of Computer Science and Engineering at UNSW. The role involves driving high-impact research in cybersecurity and AI security, contributing to strategic initiatives, and mentoring students.
Responsibilities
- Drive high-impact research in cybersecurity and AI security, with a focus on areas such as security and privacy of AI systems, adversarial machine learning, secure AI deployment, and AI safety.
- Contribute to and shape the strategic direction of research and education in cybersecurity and AI security.
- Lead research initiatives and secure competitive research funding.
- Mentor higher degree research students to successful completion.
- Deliver high-quality teaching and contribute to curriculum development.
- Build strong partnerships with industry and the profession.
Requirements
- A PhD in a related discipline, or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to staying updated with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, course development, and online delivery.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
- Experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
- Professional development of teaching practice in self and others.
- Initiating and improving curriculum development.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
- Significant track record in research leadership with high-quality and high international impact.
- Success in recruiting and supervising high-calibre students.

Benefits
Competitive salary of AUD $185,917 to $204,218 per annum plus 17% superannuation. Full-time position with a two-year convertible tenure-track or continuing appointment.
