About the role
Join us as an Associate Production Director, where you’ll serve as the technical lead for our client’s studio productions. You’ll combine your broadcast expertise with creative and technical know-how to deliver top-quality livestreams and studio events, orchestrating the technology and talent behind every show.
Position Type and Expected Work Hours
This flexible, variable-hours role will work 10-30 hours/week depending on production schedule. This role will support a 24/7 production schedule, and may work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
What You'll Do
- Lead the daily operation of our control room, managing production workflows and ensuring the team runs smoothly.
- Direct 1–2 Production Technicians during live broadcasts, providing real-time cues and making sure audio, camera, and vision meet our high standards.
- Ensure every broadcast meets both technical and brand style expectations, quickly spotting and fixing any issues.
- Keep our SOPs, style guides, and technical workflows up-to-date and in top shape.
- Take charge of technical planning for control room projects, ensuring each production goes off without a hitch.
- Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and test new hardware/software solutions for better results.
- Be the go-to leader in technical emergencies, making independent decisions under pressure to keep broadcasts on track.
- You may have the opportunity to supervise and mentor direct reports.
What You Bring
- Expert knowledge of Ross Carbonite switchers, Yamaha QL/CL series audio consoles, and advanced signal flow (SDI, NDI, Dante).
- Confidence leading a crew in a live, broadcast environment—especially under pressure.
- Experience supervising or managing small teams is a plus.
- A problem-solving mindset, able to troubleshoot complex workflows and signal paths on your own.
- Willingness to provide support and technical guidance during off-hours, ensuring our productions are always on point.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in live broadcast (TV, News, Sports), with experience as a Director or Technical Director.
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Production, Communications, or a related field OR equivalent leadership experience.
