About the role
The Associate Product Design Engineer is an entry-level engineering role designed for recent graduates. This role supports new product development and sustaining engineering efforts within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Support design and development of new and existing products, including concept generation and design iteration that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Create and modify 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks.
- Develop product documentation packages (drawings, BOMs, specifications).
- Support prototyping, sing, and validation activities; help analyze data against performance requirements.
- Participate in cross-functional product development teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, supply chain).
- Conduct engineering analysis, benchmarking, and problem-solving activities.
- Affirm designs meet applicable codes, standards, and internal requirements.
- Interface with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to support design for manufacturing and cost targets.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to engineering processes and product performance.
Requirements
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Internship, co-op, or project experience preferred.
- Exposure to CAD modeling and engineering documentation standards.
Education & Experience
- Required: Education and experience as stated above.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong analytical abilities with a passion for data-inspired decision making.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship/co-op experience in a manufacturing or product engineering environment.
- Exposure to plastic part design, assemblies, or manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Excel or basic data analysis.
