Associate Producer

About the role

WHAM is seeking an Associate Producer to assist with and contribute to the station’s five hours of news on both 13WHAM and WUHF weekday mornings. The candidate must have strong writing and news judgment skills and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Writing copy for newscasts
• Editing video for online posts
• Posting stories online and to social media
• Operating teleprompter during newscasts
• Assisting Producers with finding stories
• Assisting with other editorial and general newsroom duties as assigned
• Helping in-studio guests of morning show to get on and off air, hosting, and answering questions

Requirements

• 4-year degree in Journalism or Mass Communications
• Previous television experience
• Available to work five weekday mornings, as early as 4:30 a.m., including some holidays

Skills

• Strong writing and news judgment skills
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to write quality broadcast news copy under tight deadlines

Pay

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $17.00 to $17.60 per hour. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Schedule

This is a part-time position requiring availability five weekday mornings, as early as 4:30 a.m., including some holidays.
