About the role
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Responsibilities
- Assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care
- Aids in maintaining a clean, orderly environment
- Demonstrates service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction
Qualifications
- Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups
- Required Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Necessary Skills:
- Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team
- Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions
- Ability to read/write in English
- Required Licensure/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
