About the role
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under RN supervision
- Assist in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Demonstrate service excellence to promote patient and family satisfaction
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually (required for the Psychiatric unit only)
- Demonstrates teamwork and professional communication with the healthcare team
- Ability to learn and apply hospital computer technologies and procedures affecting patient care delivery
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions
- Ability to read and write in English
Qualifications
Experience caring for patients of all age groups.
Less than one year of experience required.
