About the Role

The Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Missions is a full-time ministerial staff role focused on leading people from attending church to becoming fully engaged disciples of Jesus. This is achieved by building healthy small groups, creating clear next steps for engagement, and mobilizing the church to serve the community and the world with the Gospel. Success is measured by increased connection, growth, and outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Small Groups
    • Recruit, train, coach, and care for Small Group Leaders
    • Launch new groups each semester with a focus on multiplying leaders
    • Ensure every group has clear leadership, curriculum, and ongoing support
    • Measure health through participation, leader development, multiplication, and life change
  • Guest Engagement
    • Create a simple, intentional pathway from first-time guest to fully engaged member
    • Oversee follow-up, membership, and next-step processes
    • Work alongside ministry teams and leaders to remove barriers that keep people from connecting
  • Missions & Outreach
    • Champion local, national, and global mission partnerships
    • Enlist, equip, empower, and encourage members to live on mission daily
    • Lead outreach initiatives that align with the church’s vision
    • Develop partnerships that produce lasting Kingdom impact
  • Leadership Development
    • Identify and develop future ministry leaders
    • Build systems that create leaders instead of depending on staff
    • Invest regularly in coaches, directors, and volunteers
  • Ministry Management
    • Plan strategically
    • Steward budgets
    • Track measurables
    • Communicate clearly with staff and volunteers
    • Lead with humility, excellence, and accountability

Working Relationships

  • Reports to the Lead Pastor
  • Works in cooperation with other staff and volunteers
  • Oversees staff and volunteers within Small Groups, Connections, and Missions Ministries

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; seminary degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in a ministerial role with preferred experience supporting small groups, missions, and connections
