Associate or Full Professor - Law
About the role
The University of Houston Law Center invites applications for a tenured Associate or Full Professor position in criminal law and legislation and regulation, as well as various upper-level courses, to begin in the Fall 2027 term. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a chair or professorship depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
This position requires teaching coverage in 1L doctrinal courses, upper-level required courses, or bar topic courses. Candidates from across all doctrinal areas of law will be considered, but the greatest need is in traditional first-year subjects, particularly criminal law and legislation and regulation.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold a J.D. degree (or the equivalent)
- Demonstrate success as a scholar and teacher
- Show a record of commitment to service indicating success as a future member of the University of Houston Law Center community
Qualifications
Rank at the time of appointment will be made based on academic and scholarly record. Willingness to teach anywhere in the core University of Houston Law Center curriculum is a positive factor.
Skills
The most critical needs in upper-level courses are in family law, labor and employment, PR, and evidence. Other upper-level topics of special interest include administrative law, bankruptcy, copyright, disability and the law, employment discrimination, energy law, health law, international law, and wills and trusts.
