About the role

The Walmart Associate Optometrist is a key member of the Vision Center team, working closely with the Vision Center Manager to provide evidence-based vision care and manage optical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision care services including prescription and non-prescription medication recommendations and treatments like LASIK surgery and cataract surgery.
  • Educate patients and store associates on eye health, contact lens care, disease state management, and safety factors.
  • Consult with other health professionals to develop comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Embrace new technology and advanced instrumentation, integrating digital phoropters, EMR Maestro, OCT, and retinal camera combo.
  • Manage optical operations, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, and aligning with company and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate clearly on new therapies, items, and patient concerns, and document accordingly.
  • Analyze and implement interventions to enhance team knowledge and patient safety.
  • Act with integrity, maintain compliance, and support the Walmart values.
  • Strive for excellence, continuously improving processes and embracing new technologies.
  • Deliver results while prioritizing customer needs and balancing short and long-term priorities.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Optometry from an accredited optometry school.
  • Licensed optometrist in good standing in the state of practice.
  • Experience in treating and managing ocular diseases.
  • EMR and EHR experience.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and standard operating procedures.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $135,000.00 - $200,000.00, with additional compensation available based on performance and location.
