About the Role

The Associate Merchandiser assists the Merchandiser with merchandise strategy and product assortments that enable the achievement of financial plan. Works in collaboration with all cross-functional partners to deliver departmental plans.

Responsibilities

• Support in developing a line that represents the brand by doing competitive intelligence, customer intimacy, and business analysis.
• Manage a subset of the lifestyle category to begin broadening scope of responsibility.
• Collect industry/consumer/competitor trend information. Report on and integrate findings into the development of the strategic vision and the future selection of product.
• Work with Planning and Allocation on promotional cadence, flow order, color/size buys, minimum/maximum quantities, etc.
• Understand and apply retail metrics.
• In season, react to current business trends; ensure the integration of fashion newness, develop upside strategies, recognize product evolution and potential voids; prepare contingency plans to drive sales and profit objectives.
• Work cross-functionally with planning, product development, and design to ensure the flow of the vertical process is maintained.
• Support sample ordering, tracking, management, organization, and handoff.
• Responsible for hind-sighting product performance.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in a merchandising-related position for a fashion retailer.
• Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, retail management, or business-related field preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to build and sustain relationships quickly.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
