Associate Medical Director - ICC
About the role
HealthRIGHT 360 provides comprehensive, integrated, compassionate care to those most in need, including those suffering from homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and chronic medical conditions. The Integrated Care Center Clinic is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) offering primary care, behavioral health, addiction treatment, psychiatry, dental care, and more.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to and implements policies pertaining to HR360 medical care.
- Provides medical supervision and oversight of quality of care and practice management among providers and ancillary staff in clinical areas.
- Matures services based on patient population needs.
- Strategizes resource allocation for expanded services.
- Safeguards mechanisms for physician availability in the absence of a primary care provider.
- Fosters integration of services at the Integrated Community Clinic, including primary care, dental, behavioral health, and addiction treatment.
- Fosters integration between clinic and other HR360 behavioral health programs.
- Champions quality improvement efforts and supports providers in meeting QI goals.
- Participates in the QI committee and sets QI goals.
- Oversees peer review, including quarterly reviews, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Supervises medical providers, leads team-based, integrated care model.
- Reviews employee performance, provides feedback, and recommends individual performance improvement and development.
- Coaches and supports providers in clinical practice and practice management.
- Provides comprehensive care within the scope of credentialed privileges and standardized procedures.
- Documents care promptly and follows charting protocols and applicable CA state licensing requirements.
- Completes patient sessions in a timely manner.
- Safeguards appropriate follow-ups for all aspects of ordered care.
- Facilitates integration between primary care and mental health to improve patient outcomes.
- Provides on-call after-hours availability on a rotating basis.
- Obtains and maintains licensure, DEA registration, and BCLS/CPR certification.
- Attends continuing professional education programs.
- Works evenings and weekends as required.
- Provides patient care 40% of the time or as agreed upon and approved by the Deputy Medical Officer or Chief Healthcare Officer.
- Takes call on a rotating basis.
- Participates in trainings related to FQHC compliance and operations, quality improvement, supervision, staff management, etc.
- Demonstrates leadership growth through yearly goals set in conjunction with the Chief Healthcare Officer.
- Supports and participates in clinical performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited United States medical school.
- Successful completion of Internship and Residency from accredited internship/residency program.
- 3+ years experience as a primary care provider.
- Experience in leadership roles, preferably in clinical settings.
- Experience in supervisory and/or management positions, coaching and supporting clinical staff development.
- Board certified in family medicine or internal medicine.
- Valid and active California medical license, without any limitations on license to practice in designated specialty.
- Valid and active DEA license.
- Desired experience in associate director role.
- Experience treating patients with addiction.
- Experience working with patients with a history of the criminal justice system.
- Experience with integrating safe management of pain syndromes within primary care.
- Experience with and knowledge of third-party payer requirements, California practice guidelines, and malpractice laws.
- Experience working in FQHCs.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
