About the role
The role involves leading a high-performing team within our Computer Vision group. This group covers optics, camera modeling, simulation & testing, algorithm development, software engineering, and CI/CD.
Responsibilities
- Conducting regular 1:1s (at least every other week), delivering continuous feedback, and providing career guidance and coaching
- Delegating work effectively, ensuring tasks are matched to skill sets and development goals
- Driving agile framework execution (scrum/kanban), managing the backlog, and facilitating sprint ceremonies
- Reporting Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics against agile commitments managing schedule and budget
- Communicating progress and technical status to internal and external stakeholders through clear presentations and written reports
- Partnering with product managers, architects, and cross-functional leads to align technical priorities with mission requirements
- Championing continuous improvement of team processes, fostering a collaborative culture, and supporting the adoption of CI/CD best practices across the group
- Deriving, authoring, and maintaining clear, testable software and system requirements originating from top-level requirements and mission needs
Requirements
Preferably has 5+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline. Desirable skills include:
- 3-5+ years of experience leading technical teams (software, algorithm, or hardware) in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment
- Credential in CI/CD pipelines - familiarity with GitLab CI or similar tools for automated testing and deployment
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, or applying computer vision algorithms and/or artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques
- Prior work on real-time or embedded systems
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, MATLAB/Simulink, and C++
- Experience testing and working with camera hardware (lenses, focal planes, optical test equipment)
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Demonstrated ability to derive, write, and maintain clear, testable requirements
- Experience with software development workflows (Kanban, Agile, etc.) and reporting status of schedule and budget against the software development cycle
- Comfortable presenting findings and visualizations to cross-functional teammates in meetings or written reports
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix, Python, and version control systems
- To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen. Although not required to start, the selected applicant must be eligible to obtain, and maintain, Top Secret with adjudicated SCI eligibility for long-term employment on this program.
