Associate Manager, Brand Communications
About the role
Warby Parker is seeking a motivated Brand Communications Associate Manager to help execute evolving media relations strategies and bring our brand stories to life. In this role, you'll play a hands-on part in introducing, enhancing, and elevating the Warby Parker narrative across multiple audiences and platforms. You'll work closely with our in-house Communications team and agency partners to activate existing media relationships and build new ones—across both traditional and emerging outlets—to drive coverage around our eye care offerings, retail store openings, brand-defining moments, and more.
The ideal candidate is deeply plugged into culture and media, brings strong editorial judgment, and is excited to help steward a well-established brand forward—finding fresh, relevant angles while staying true to what has made Warby Parker resonate for the past 16 years.
Responsibilities
- Support functional leaders in crafting stories across multiple topics by creating briefs, drafting messaging points, writing pitches, and producing assets for external-facing initiatives.
- Proactively pitch and place stories by drawing on established relationships with editors, writers, producers, and creators across fashion, lifestyle, culture, retail, and business media.
- Build and maintain relationships across both traditional media and newer, evolving channels—including newsletters, podcasts, Substack writers, stylists, influencers, creative tastemakers, and independent journalists—to expand how and where Warby Parker shows up.
- Continuously assess how and where Warby Parker can show up in relevant cultural moments, identifying creative opportunities and new formats to evolve the brand story while staying grounded in its core values and identity.
- Support the planning and execution of brand moments—such as events, partnerships, and collaborations—as vehicles for storytelling, working cross-functionally to ensure they translate into meaningful cultural and media impact.
- Work with retail partners across the country to coordinate local events, partnerships, and media opportunities in both new and existing markets, owning execution from concept through follow-through.
- Field daily inquiries from Warby Parker's PR agency and external media, exercising strong judgment to capitalize on timely and high-impact press opportunities.
- Partner with the Communications team and our PR agency to compile quarterly PR reports, helping analyze results and surface insights that inform future storytelling and media strategy.
- Maintain and improve Communications processes and asset management systems—ensuring the team operates efficiently, consistently, and creatively.
- In partnership with the Corporate Communications team, maintain Warby Parker's communications content calendar and proactively propose story ideas to support a steady, thoughtful flow of coverage.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience working in communications, media, branding, or marketing.
- A Warby Parker superfan who's eager to act as an ambassador of our brand.
- A motivated self-starter with a no-task-too-small approach.
- Able to work collaboratively and develop consensus across groups and teams.
- An excellent communicator—in person, over email, or via any other medium.
- Proficient in Google Workspace (particularly Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides).
- Not on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bring existing media relationships and enjoy actively engaging them to bring stories to life.
- Have existing relationships with stylists or experience working closely with them to place product, support talent moments, or inform fashion-led storytelling.
- Are as comfortable pitching a traditional editor as you are a newsletter writer or podcast host.
- Have strong instincts for what makes a story timely, culturally relevant, and worth telling.
- Are excited by the challenge of evolving a well-known brand—finding new ways to tell familiar stories.
- Are highly organized, proactive, and comfortable owning execution while collaborating closely with senior leadership.
