About the role
The Office of Audit Services (OAS) assists and supports California Department of Social Services (CDSS) management with independent assessments of the Department's internal and external control strategy and effectiveness. OAS aims to improve control, risk management, and governance processes to help CDSS achieve its mission and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent audits, tasks, or special assignments in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
- Prepare and plan for audit(s), research and gather data, request records, perform tests, and develop audit programs.
- Prepare and issue audit reports and recommendations for external agencies.
- Provide oral and written communication to all levels of management, conduct audit fieldwork, and make on-site visits to agencies to ensure program integrity and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 units of accounting.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in government auditing or similar field.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Skills
Required Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
