Essential Responsibilities

• Registers patients and performs test order entry into laboratory information system accurately and efficiently to ensure proper testing and charges of patient account.
• Verifies specimen identification and prepares and processes specimens according to department procedures and protocols.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the work area and adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations.
• Stocks supplies.
• Provides support such as answering telephones, faxing reports, and send-outs.
• Mentors MLA students in specimen processing utilizing AHN policies and procedures.
• Orders, performs and results waived testing.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.
• PREFERRED: Graduate of a medical assistant program or a phlebotomy program receiving a medical assistant or phlebotomy certificate.
