Job Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain our Jira Data Center environment, including user management, permission schemes, notification schemes, and project configurations.
- Support and evolve our Jira-based MES, working directly with production floor users, process engineers, and operations leaders to understand manufacturing workflows and translate them into Jira solutions.
- Serve as first-line support for Jira user questions, access requests, and troubleshooting, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Maintain existing workflows, including Conditions, Validators, and Post Functions, and assist senior team members in designing new workflows that reflect real-world manufacturing processes such as work order routing, quality holds, and production tracking.
- Learn and develop skills in Script Runner (Groovy) to support advanced workflow automation, custom fields, and business logic, with mentorship and guidance.
- Spend time on the production floor to observe how the system is used in practice, identify pain points, and bring back actionable improvement ideas.
- Participate in requirements-gathering sessions with process owners across Engineering, Production, Quality, and Product Management, capturing needs for senior administrators to design against.
- Contribute to concurrent Jira implementation projects, taking ownership of defined tasks within larger workstreams while coordinating with other contributors.
- Maintain technical documentation for workflows, scripts, and configurations to support knowledge transfer and system continuity.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience as a Jira Administrator, with knowledge of workflow design including Conditions, Validators, and Post Functions.
- Knowledge with Jira ScriptRunner (Groovy-based scripting) for workflow automation, custom listeners, and advanced post functions.
- Experience with SQL — including writing queries to retrieve and manipulate data — and integrating database-driven content into Jira workflows and field configurations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret varied and sometimes ambiguous stakeholder requests into clear, implementable technical solutions.
- Solid understanding of Jira permission schemes, notification schemes, screens, and field configurations in a Data Center environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage technical implementations from requirement gathering through deployment.
- Experience working in manufacturing, engineering, or operations environments where Jira spans cross-functional business processes.
