Associate, Investment Banking (Financial Sponsors Group)
Qualifications
- Typically, between 3 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and an outstanding academic achievement.
- 2-3+ years of investment banking, leveraged finance, valuation, corporate finance or related transaction experience.
- Knowledge of capital markets, investment banking products and applicable regulations.
- Understanding of private equity business models, sponsor-backed transactions and leveraged finance markets.
- Demonstrates solid deal/transaction execution and/or project management skills.
- Experience supporting M&A, leveraged finance, acquisition financing, recapitalization or other strategic transactions preferred.
- Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.
- Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Excellent collaborator & team player.

About the Role
Provides a combination of deep Financial Sponsors sector expertise, innovative thinking in a team-based approach and world class execution across a full suite of products to clients through an integrated Capital Markets platform using a sector ecosystem approach. Collaborates to generate creative, client-focused solutions to prospective and current clients including private equity firms, alternative asset managers and their portfolio companies. Takes an active role in deal teams to develop, present, and win mandates for new opportunities across sponsor clients and their portfolio companies.
Responsibilities
Builds and maintains effective relationships with sponsor clients, portfolio company management teams and internal stakeholders.
Creates sponsor pitch books and marketing materials and participates in client discussions and presentations.
Supports the development and management of sponsor relationships by monitoring investment activity, portfolio developments, fundraising activity, and strategic priorities.
Identifies opportunities across sponsor portfolios and investment themes to generate new business opportunities.
Maintains knowledge of sponsor ownership structures, portfolio companies, investment criteria and transaction activity.
Supports evaluation and execution of strategic, financing and M&A opportunities across sponsor-backed portfolio companies.
Develops financial models, valuation analyses and transaction materials to support client coverage and execution activities.
Applies appropriate technical concepts and completes/leads consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables.
Provides direction and feedback to Analysts; accountable for development and mentoring of Analysts.
Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems.
Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
Adheres to all policies & procedures and considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities.
